Jewish Voice for Peace is a democratic community of activists made up of Jews and those of many other faiths and cultural traditions. JVP members are inspired by Jewish religious and secular traditions to support peace, social justice, equality, human rights, and respect for international law. Above all, JVP members refuse to be silent. We are among the many American Jews who say “Not in our names!” Thus, we strongly fault the political leaders of Israel and the U.S. for systematically depriving Palestinians of their human rights, including the right to self-determination. Moreover, through our words and actions, JVP offers vivid testimony that AIPAC and other establishment American Jewish organizations do not represent the Jewish community. In the finest Jewish spirit of informed dissent, JVP insists that Israel and the U.S. take moral responsibility for their denial of justice in Palestine-Israel and finally act to uphold the principles of social justice and equality for all.
JVP opposes anti-Jewish, anti-Muslim, and anti-Arab bigotry and oppression. We call for the dismantling of all Israeli settlements (all of which are in violation of the Fourth Geneva Convention) and an end to Israel’s occupation of the West Bank, Gaza Strip, and East Jerusalem; security and self-determination for Israelis and Palestinians; full compliance with international humanitarian and human rights law, a just solution for Palestinian refugees; and peace and justice for all.
JVP supports peace activists in Palestine and Israel, and works in broad coalition with other Jewish, Arab-American, faith-based, peace and social justice organizations. We oppose all efforts by establishment Jewish organizations in the U.S., Israel, and elsewhere to silence dissent.
